Inspiration - Durban Art Gallery Archive Show

Closing Saturday, April 16 at 2:00pm

A group of KwaZulu-Natal-based artists met on December 9th at the Durban Art Gallery archives with the formidable task to find the one artwork that was most inspirational to each of them. At the end of the day twenty-five artists came away with twenty-five images that have now become their foundations of a new artwork. There were no restrictions as to the subject matter chosen nor are there any restrictions as to the interpretations.

The exhibition showcases both images of the original artworks and the interpretations.

Participating artists are: Michele Silk, Nomcebo Sithole, Steve Mandy, Coral Spencer Domijan, Di van Wyk, Claude Chandler, Carla da Cruz, Pascale Chandler, Jane Oliver, Welcome Danca, Marlene Wasserman, Peter Rippon, Dee Donaldson, Grace Kotze, Chris de Beer, Sibusiso Duma, Marlene de Beer, Faye Spencer, Jackie Freer, Vulindlela Nyoni, Greg Bye, Nicole Eramus, Roz Cryer, Amy-Jo Windt, and Janet Solomon
