Individual animals carry distinct emotional qualities, offering endless possibilities for both evocative and physical exploration. I select them in response to personal experiences and associations, as well as to their unique physical characteristics, gestures and forms. Through painting, I explore the ways an animal’s presence, posture and expression can suggest vulnerability, strength, tenderness or unease, allowing its physical makeup to become a vehicle for emotions.
