Older landscapes
Painting landscapes is a very emotional process. It is impossible not to be moved by their immensity, the shifting light, expressive lines, rich textures and ever changing colour. I am drawn to the landscape not simply as a subject to be observed, but as something experienced and felt.
The act of painting becomes a way of translating that experience into something tangible: the atmosphere of a place, the energy of the land, and the fleeting impressions that remain in memory. I am interested in capturing not only what a landscape looks like, but what it evokes.
